National Championships

 Each year one of the affiliate organisations conduct a national championship under agreement with the AVGA. It is conducted over 5 days and is open to all members and their golfing partners with a current GA handicap. Activities are also organised to cater for any non golfing partners.

National Championship

It is normally held in November, although it may be varied according to local climate or other considerations.

The event commences with registration on the Sunday, followed by a 4BBB medley stableford event for all entrants on the Monday.

The championship rounds on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday:

    1. A 54 hole stroke event conducted over 3 days with a concurrent stableford competition.
    2. Played in Mens and Ladies A, B, and C grades.
    3. Grades shall be determined by handicaps based on making each grade approximately equal in numbers.
    4. Each grade plays once at each course. Ladies will be drawn to play on the same course and time as their partner, unless otherwise requested.
    5. An option shall be provided that at any time during the event participants may opt to withdraw from the stroke event and continue to play stableford only.
    6. Players will remain in the same grade throughout the championship and play on the same GA handicap throughout the championship. Actual playing handicaps will vary dependant on the slope rating of each course played.

It concludes with a Presentation Dinner on Friday night.

Other Activities

Other activities, including a program for non playing partners of entrants, may be offered by the organizers to add to the overall experience.
